Plate 1b [SI](Spec AS6j, constant variety) with 4 even margins, tied to a 23 Nov 1841 entire from Inverness to Edinburgh. The letter (of which sadly only the second page remains) concerns the funding and control of the Caledonian Canal, and is written by George May, the canal's superintendant and resident engineer. 145.00

Superb large-margined stamp from this scarce plate repair tied  by MC to 12 May 1841 cover (no side flaps, no rear markings) from Newport Pagnell to Olney.  Front Newport Pagnell cds for 12 May and (for some reason - missed the 12 May post?), another cds for 13 May.
